James Lord

James accepts briefs in all areas of commercial law, with a particular interest in insolvency, corporations, competition and consumer law, building and construction, contracts, equity and trusts. 

Prior to being called to the bar, James was a Senior Associate at a large firm in Brisbane, where he practiced in commercial litigation since his admission in 2019.  He was recognised in Doyles Guide as a Commercial Litigation & Insolvency Law Rising Star – Queensland, 2024.

As a solicitor, James acted for a broad range of clients, including insolvency practitioners, directors, shareholders, trustees, and private and listed companies.  He has acted in private and regulatory matters involving cryptocurrency and financial products, including court-appointed receiverships under section 1323 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).  He has a special interest in shareholder and director disputes, voidable transaction claims, and matters involving director and fiduciary liabilities. 

James graduated from the University of Queensland with degrees in Arts and Law (Hons).
