Kate Buxton FCIArb

Kate Buxton was first called to the Queensland Bar in 1997 and, after serving on various state and commonwealth tribunals for 15 years, was last called to the Bar in 2024. She accepts briefs as a neutral (arbitrator or mediator) in commercial and regulatory disputes in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region. Kate is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, and is listed on ACICA’s Panel of Arbitrators. Kate is also a nationally accredited mediator (AMDRAS).

Kate has appeared in trials, arbitrations and appeals, and has also practised in London and the Channel Islands, with a public law, regulatory and commercial focus. She was appointed to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal in 2009, and to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in 2015, where she most recently served as a Senior Member. She was also a Member of the Social Security Appeals Tribunal from 2013 to 2015.  In 1994, Kate was associate to Justice Moynihan in the Supreme Court of Queensland.
