Timothy Randall, Reader

Tim accepts briefs in all areas of commercial, general civil, revenue, public and international law. He has a particular interest in international arbitration, construction law, public international law and international trade law. 

Tim has had a diverse professional background prior to his call to the bar, having worked at top tier and international firms, boutique litigation firms and a full-service regional firm. He served as the associate to the Senior Judge Administrator, Justice Martin AM, of the Supreme Court of Queensland. Tim holds an LLM from the University of Melbourne, and an LLB (First Class Honours) and a BA (with Distinction) from the University of Southern Queensland. His dissertation forming part of the LLM concerned the legality of mining asteroids.     

Tim has full member status with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and is a member of the Bar Association’s Commercial Arbitration Committee. He is a member of HK45, Young SIAC and Young ICCA. Tim accepts appointments to act as arbitrator and, in select circumstances, to act as an arbitral secretary.

Tim accepts pro bono briefs when commitments permit it.

Mannaert Pty Ltd v Darley Properties Pty Ltd (District Court of Queensland, Barlow DCJ, 19 December 2024) (resisted interlocutory injunction with respect to a restraint of trade clause on the basis that there was no prima facie case)

Fleming v Handsaker (District Court of Queensland, Porter DCJ, 21 May 2025) (summary judgment application concerning restitutionary claims where there was a contract)

Grimshaw v State of Queensland (Magistrates Court of Queensland, Magistrate Wilson, 22 January 2025) (resisting summary judgment application on a negligence claim)

MA & SK Jokovich Pty Ltd v Garland [2025] QCAT 191 (3-day trial on a contract and restitution claim)
